Every idea starts with a problem - and for us at Rebel it is how wasteful and irresponsible we are as consumers. We have become a fast fashion society and very often our purchasing decisions are ruled by quantity over quality, and price over purpose. As everything else in the world, this comes at a price - we are exhausting our planet's natural resources, poisoning its waters and destroying its ecosystems.
Species are increasingly becoming extinct, and 99% of currently threatened species are at risk from human activities. How we treat our planet is a reflection of our intelligence and our humanity. As John Sawhill has said:
"A society is defined not only by what it creates, but by what it refuses to destroy!"
Our mission, at Rebel, is to be a catalyst for social change and unite people in taking a stand against ignorance. We want to give our customers the best product possible, which is why it is our inherent belief that quality and attention to detail are key. We source all of our materials from the European Union and all components and design elements that go into making our Rebels have been customised and optimised. We source only the highest quality thread commercially available, allowing us to produce a stitch with high tear and abrasion resistance.
We pride ourselves on using only the highest quality technical textiles for the production of our shorts. The fabric we use is 100% polyamide - soft, durable, quick-drying, and shrink-resistant. A special technique is used to apply our prints onto the fabric which in turn allows the colours to remain vibrant for a long period of time, while also preventing them from fading after continuous exposure to sun and salt water. To achieve this, we have partnered with one of the best designers and producers of highly reliable technical textiles in Europe. We source our fabric from a family-owned business with over 100 years of extensive expertise in weaving, knitting, and dying. As with every aspect of our brand and products, we have selected a partner who has a long-standing commitment to sustainable development.
Through our brand we believe in empowering communities, which is why we took great care in choosing where our swim shorts are made. We wanted to bring the manufacturing process to an area which would benefit from the opportunity and foster growth for the local community. Both our co-founders spent a part of their lives in Bulgaria, a country known for its excellence in the textile industry and skilled seamstresses, so it wasn't really much of struggle to decide that it would be the perfect place to make our Rebel beach shorts.
Our commitment to the environment goes beyond our swim shorts. We have made the conscious decision to only use environmentally safe and recycled materials to produce all of our labels and packaging in order to minimise our carbon footprint.
To us, Rebel is a passion, and so we have surrounded ourselves with partners who share our passion for raising awareness, educating people and reconnecting them with nature. Let's make a commitment to ourselves and the future generations to make a purposeful effort to become socially responsible and environmentally conscious consumers!
Put a pair of Rebels on and join us on our mission!

Please note that when the elastic waist band of the men's beach shorts is stretched, each size gains approximately 25 cm (or 10 inches) around the waist.
Women's beach shorts are designed to be worn at the hip bone, so when choosing your size it would be best if that is the circumferance you measure.
Recommended garment care: To make sure your Rebel print colors remain bright and vivid for as long as possible, please hand wash in warm water, line dry, and refrain from ironing.
